December 2012: The Mince Pie Project
Mince pies helped raise nearly £30,000 in support of Galvin’s Chance, as well as for the homeless charity Crisis. Galvin’s Chance was selected as one the beneficiaries for this year’s proceeds from the second annual The Mince Pie Project. 100 of the UK’s greatest chefs with almost 60 Michelin stars between them, including Chefs Michel Roux Jr, Raymond Blanc and Marcus Wareing amongst others, participated in this year’s project. Each chef made a unique batch of 50 mince pies which were sold in an 72-hour online auction.
Dan Doherty, head chef at Duck and Waffle atop London’s Heron Tower, made gingerbread mince pies with a cream cheese orange frosting for the charity auction. Toping the list, his pies sold for a whooping £1,900 contributing to the overall total of £29,147.20. Other recipes included cherries, almonds, cognac and a secret, melt-in-your-mouth pastry recipe from André Garrett, Executive Chef of Galvin at Windows atop London Hilton on Park Lane; spiced, candied organic winter fruit, spiked with money-can’t-buy 1966 Invergordon Highland whisky from Andrew Fairlie from Restaurant Andrew Fairlie

November 2011: The Big Christmas Fight
Simon Vincent, Hilton Worldwide President for Europe and Fred Sirieix stepped into the ring on 13th December and took on the former (undefeated) British and European welterweight boxing champion Clinton Mckenzie to fight for Galvin’s Chance, service and front of house.
The fight consisted of ten rounds with the two alternating in and out of the ring in a tag team approach. They are putting their bodies on the line though in aid of a very good cause. Galvin’s Chance is an into work apprenticeship scheme for disadvantaged young people which they have both supported since it started three years ago. Every penny raised from the event will be channelled by Hilton in the Community Foundation to Galvin’s Chance to give these vulnerable young Londoners a second chance in life.
